i wouldn't brush aside any Iranian involvement in this test or perhaps even the last one. as you said in your conclusion western reaction will determine the adventures of different countries who wish to find the ultimate deterrent to foreign pressure, particularly American...
should north korea be allowed to become a nuclear state iran can test a small device the next day and claim it should be allowed also, which is a fair statement. this would create 2 or even POSSIBLY 3 nuclear states overnight. the probable two being iran and north korea and the other possibly syria.
this test could perhaps have nothing to do with north korea, they could merely be a site for iranian testing-this however is very unlikely and DPRK has had its own arms program.
one thing to look out for is iran vast desert the
dashte-kavir its barren empty and covered in sand-a nuclear test can be easily done there without anyone finding out. in some regions the location might be uninhabited by humans by a radius of 200 km, some more than that. due to the frequent seismic activity in iran due to the iranian and arabian plates colliding so frequently a small earthquake and a nuclear explosion in the center of iran (underground offcourse) would be hard to detect without taking samples (which have to be taken by aircraft based on civilian jets which can easily be shot down by SAMS and interceptor aircraft. a test under a mountain in a region prone to earthquakes is also a possibly and is perhaps the safest way (for iran) to test a nuclear device. |

Atmospheric sampling can be taken at long ranges due to the ability of the particles to stay airborne over very, very long ranges. So Iran probabyl wouldn't get away with hiding a test for very long. Plus, an underground explosion has a much different seismic signature than an earthquake. Setting off a bomb in a seismically active area won't hide anything. _________________ "Peace through kinetic solutions" |

Iran could've just test their nuke in NK......
NK gets the blame but tons of money from Iran. Iran gets confirmation that their nuke works, and US doesn't know better....... |
